Chilliwack neighbourhoods and what they mean for moving day
- Sardis and Vedder: family homes and townhouse complexes; check visitor parking and strata rules.
- Promontory and Ryder Lake: hillside streets and steep driveways, where a shorter carry from a smaller truck can save time.
- Garrison Crossing: newer homes and condos with set loading areas.
- Downtown and Fairfield Island: older homes, apartments and narrower streets.
- Rosedale and Yarrow: rural properties with long driveways, barns and outbuildings.
Moving to Chilliwack from the Lower Mainland
Coming east on Highway 1 is easiest outside weekday rush hours, and Fridays are often the busiest. If you are moving from Surrey, Langley or further west, an early start helps the crew unload while there is still plenty of daylight. If the two closing dates do not line up, short-term storage between the two homes avoids paying for two days of moving.
